Toro! Let's Party! (トロともりもり, Toro to Morimori) is a Video Game jointly developed by SCE Japan Studio and BeXide, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

It was released on July 23rd, 2009 for the PlayStation 3, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the Doko Demo Issyo series.

It is mainly a party game, though there is a prominent story mode in which mini games are unlocked as the story is progressed.

A different version was made that contained an English translation in other Asian countries, including Hong Kong and South Korea, making it the first Doko Demo Issyo game that was officially released in Korean, Chinese, and English.

The Japanese version of the game was later re-released on the Japanese version of PlayStation Now, on September 15, 2015.

Gameplay[]

Toro! Let's Party! is a party game that had a collection of minigames that can be played; some games can be played with up to two or four players. Some of the mini games are cooperative, where the players must work together to beat the game.

Many of the games are fairly simple, and uses a combination of button and motion controls, utilizing the DualShock controller's motion sensors. There are 33 minigames in total, and there is a solo score attack mode where the player attempts to get the highest score they can within the minigames, with PlayStation trophies and entries in the gallery as potential unlocks for high scores.

Plot[]

In Story Mode Toro Inoue leaves his owner during the events of Doko Demo Issyo and goes out to meet the Crescent-Scar Cat but instead meets another black cat named Kuro and gives Toro a Memory Diary which he had receives from Crescent-Scar Cat he tells him If you fill the Memory Diary with Thank You's your dreams will come true and thus Toro and Kuro Traveled to get as Many Thank you's so Toro can become human.

The most prominent feature of Toro! Let's Party! is the story mode, in which the player unlocks mini games by going through a story. The story takes place after the events of the first game, Doko Demo Issyo, and before Mainichi Issho.

It serves as something of an origin story, as it shows how Toro met many of his friends and sets the stage for Mainichi Issho. The story is separated into pages, and each page usually has three episodes.

ntil, one day, he hears of a Crescent-Scarred Cat, an individual who seemingly has magic powers during the rare crescent moon. Toro desires to meet them, but can only do so in the immediate future during the crescent moon, so he has to leave his caretaker to chase his dreams. I'll take many memories with me...

But, it makes me a little sad...

Toro meets Kuro.

Toro journeys throughout Japan to find the Crescent-Scarred Cat, and arrives under a cherry blossom tree under a crescent moon, the place where he heard the cat was supposed to be. He meets a black cat, and, mistaking him as the Crescent-Scarred Cat, introduces himself. But, the cat turns around and introduces himself as Kuro, and coldly tells Toro that the Crescent-Scarred Cat left on a trip and won't come back anytime soon. Toro, disheartened, begins to cry, until Kuro presents him with the Memory Diary. Kuro received it from the Crescent Scarred Cat, and it can grant any wish when it is filled with "thank-yous", which can be received by making people happy. Kuro tried to fill it himself, but was unable to and got bored of it, so he decides that Toro should have it and use it to become human. Toro enthusiastically thanks Kuro, which fills the Memory Diary with it's first thank you. As Toro is about to head off, Kuro decides to join him on his journey, since he has nothing better to do and thinks it "might be interesting". And so, the two begin their journey to fill the Memory Diary with thank yous so Toro can get his wish of becoming human to come true.

I got a "Memory Diary!" Meow...

I'm going to work hard at collecting a lot of memories and becoming human. Meow...

Garcon[]

Garcon Cat offers her help.

The journey has begun, and on his first travel Toro wanders into a manor, following a wonderful aroma coming from within. He is greeted by a garcon, who mistakes him for the master of the manor. Toro corrects her, and then she intoduces herself as Garcon Cat, and explains that she is studying as an apprentice to become a real garcon. Toro doesn't know what a garcon is, and asks for an explanation. Garcon Cat explains that a garcon is someone who serves customers in a high class restaurant. Toro is excited by this, and claims he wants to become a garcon, since serving customers is something humans do often. He changes his clothes with a swing of his bag, but Garcon Cat is frustrated by Toro's childish enthusiasm and tells him becoming a garcon requires more than a change of clothes. Toro then asks about what is required to become a garcon, and Garcon Cat determines that teaching Toro the Tablecloth Pull would help him learn the three basic things of becoming a garcon: being quick, being correct, and not breaking anything.

Toro clears the challenge with little hassle, but is upset when Garcon Cat tells him more training is needed to become a top class garcon. Toro, however, is understanding when he realizes all the hardships of the garcon is ultimately for making the customers happy. Garcon Cat is intrigued by this epiphany, and declares a garcon's heart is more important than their skill. She offers Toro a job at the manor, but Toro declines the offer, since his journey of becoming a human is more important. Garcon is understanding, and thanks Toro for teaching her something new. Then, the Memory Diary begins to glow, and a new memory is added to it because of Garcon Cat's thank you. Toro is thrilled, and says goodbye to Garcon Cat and continues on his journey.

It's for someone special. Meow...

The Festival Ogre[]

Toro as the ogre.

Toro and Kuro arrive at a festival next, and Kuro suggests taking a break from their journey for a moment to have some fun. Toro gets excited, and Kuro tells him he wants to do target shooting, a game where you throw balls at a target painted on an ogre's belly button. By participating in this game, tradition holds that it removes any negative forces, and Kuro thinks that it would be good luck to play the game to keep their journey safe. They approach the stand to play the game, but the cat running the stand tells them the game isn't available since the actor playing the ogre did not arrive at the festival. Toro sees an opportunity to help someone, and offers to be the ogre so Kuro can still play the game. Kuro is amused and the cat running the stand is delighted, and Toro asks Kuro to pray for a safe trip before he begins the game.

After the game is finished, the cat running the stand thanks "General Toro", and Toro gets a new memory for the Memory Diary. The cat running the stand even gives them some money for their work, which Kuro wants to use to purchase snacks at the festival, but also thinks to himself on how he can use Toro's overly helpful nature to his advantage again in the future.

We prayed for a safe trip. Meow...

Flying Carp[]

Toro meets Grandpa Carp.

Toro comes upon a wide river basin. As he approaches the river, he hears a voice from in the river, and goes to investigate after he hears it call "Somebody... help me!". He meets the source of the voice, a giant elderly Carp who can speak. After greeting the carp, Toro's tummy begins to rumble, and he contemplates eating Grandpa Carp. Grandpa Carp is understandably upset by Toro's hunger, and introduces himself as the owner of the river and threatens Toro if he eats him, not to mention he will give him a belly ache. Grandpa Carp continues and says he used to live upstream but was washed away by a typhoon, but is disturbed by the relentless rumbling from Toro's belly. Grandpa Carp cannot make it back up stream because of its rough current and his old age, and Toro offers to help him swim up the river by dressing up as a carp. Grandpa Carp is pleased, and offers Toro anything he wants, implying he even has godlike powers and can turn him into a human.

Grandpa Carp and his granddaughter.

When Toro and Grandpa Carp arrive at the desired location, Grandpa Carp thanks Toro, thus filling the Memory Diary. As Grandpa Carp is about to "grant" Toro's wish, his granddaughter appears and interrupts the two. Toro is distracted by his hunger for the fish, and after an exclamation of fear from Grandpa Carp's granddaughter, she berates her grandfather for making her worried, and tells Toro she hoped he didn't lie to him, as Grandpa Carp tends to be a big talker and heavily exaggerate details. Toro is upset as the two fish leave, as he realizes he was fooled, but takes it in stride as he at least filled his Memory Diary some more and helped someone

Grandpa fooled me. Meow...

Toro Coming At You[]

Ricky challenges Sumo Cat.

As Toro walks past someone's back yard, he hears an energetic voice shouting "Dosukoi, dosukoi!", and approaches the source of the voice. Sumo Cat is the source of the voice, and he is training to become a yokozuna. He is suddenly approached by Ricky, the frog who is also training to become stronger, and demands to wrestle with him after hearing of his power. Sumo Cat is pumped up by the suddenness of Ricky's demands, and the two fight. Ricky comes out on top, and tells Sumo Cat he is always up for a rematch if he cannot live with his loss. Toro arrives after Sumo Cat's defeat, and hears of his loss. Sumo Cat is devastated, and considers giving up his dreams of becoming a great yokozuna, but Toro tells him he must regain his confidence with more training until he is able to beat Ricky, and offers to help him train.

After training, Sumo Cat is fired up and ready for a rematch with Ricky. Ricky likes his never-give-up attitude, and challenges him again. During the rematch, it seems that Ricky will once again be victorious, Toro arrives and reminds Sumo Cat of his training, and they both team up to defeat Ricky, to his disbelief. Sumo Cat is grateful for Toro, telling him it was "a helluva match". Somehow, after this the Memory Diary receives another memory, to which Sumo Cat explains that saying "it was a helluva match" is "sumo language" for saying thank you. Sumo Cat says he will continue to chase his dream and try to become a yokuzuna, to which Toro says they will compete to see who will achieve their dream first. Toro disembarks, learning that things that can't be accomplished alone can be when working together. He also wonders about Ricky, and wonders if they can be friends.

I met Ricky. Meow...

Gambler[]

Screenshot 2021-03-10-04-12-36-1

Toro's gambler disguise.

Toro and Kuro travel at night, making their way through a city, down a suspicious dark alley way. Toro is scared of the alleyway, while Kuro, cool and collected in this environment, tries to calm him, saying that if he acts scared he will arouse suspicion. They are approached by Detective Cat, which causes Kuro to panic at the sight of law enforcement. The detective is suspicious of Kuro now, and asks what he is carrying in his sack. Kuro unconvincingly denies having any "girlie mags" in his sack and tries to brush off the detective, but a police car is called and the detective books Kuro, his suspicious behavior leading him to falsely believe he is a robber that is currently being hunted by the police. Toro and Kuro fearfully try to prove their innocence, and Toro explains their journey filling out the Memory Diary given to them by the Crescent-Scarred Cat, of whom the detective seems to be familiar with. Toro asks what the detective is investigating, and he explains he is after a grouo of fugitives hiding out in a nearby casino; he believes Kuro is one of them. He was going to stake out the casino, but he is afraid he will look too conspicuous. Toro sees an opportunity to prove their innocence, and decides to go into the casino in disguise.

News broadcast of the gang being apprehended.

Toro distracts the kingpin with a card game, and he and his gang are apprehended by the police. Toro and Kuro are thanked by the detective, proving their innocence, and the Memory Diary receives another memory. The detective tells Toro he will contact him if he finds out anything about the Crescent Scarred Cat, even offering to arrest them. After the police leave, Toro is gushing about how exciting it was to play detective, until Kuro tells him he gambled away everything they had while Toro was distracting the gang, to which Toro is completely distraught and ashamed that Kuro would gamble for real. Toro then makes an oath he will never gamble once he becomes human.

A successful undercover operation. Meow...

Snail[]

Screenshot 2021-03-10-04-28-58-1

Toro offers assistance to the snail.

Toro is walking through the woods until he sees a giant snail on the path. He is perplexed by him, especially when he starts rambling about needing to hurry and how his time is running out, which causes him to sleep. Toro asks what issue the snail is having, and he responds once again by rambling; he explains he needs to be home before midnight or something terrible will happen, but he is unable to because, being a snail, he is too slow. Toro has fallen asleep again during his rambling, but after he is woken up he offers to help the snail come home in time.

Screenshot 2021-03-10-04-34-44-1

The prince back to normal.

Toro and the snail arrive at his home right on time, and as the clock ticks midnight, the snail and his home transform into a prince and his castle. The prince explains he was transformed into a snail and if he hadn't returned home by midnight, he would be cursed to remain a snail forever. He thanks Toro, and the Memory Diary is filled. The prince further explains that it was the Crescent Scarred Cat who turned him into a snail, simply because he accidentally called them "stupid". Toro quickly asks if the Crescent Scarred Cat is still around, to which the prince says they probably aren't, to Toro's dismay. Toro ponders if the Crescent Scarred Cat was able to turn someone into a snail, they could certainly turn someone into a human. As Toro leaves once more, he is also worried about how the Crescent Scarred Cat must be scary when angered, if they were not hesitant to use their powers against someone just for being irritated.

I was surprised you were a prince! Meow...

Inaba Rabbit[]

Jun curses her loneliness.

Jun Mihara is starring out at the sea, upset about her recent breakup with her long distance partner overseas. As she curses the ocean in anger, her tummy begins to rumble; Jun needs to get a new job since her funds are getting low. She heads to a beach stand and reads a sign set up advertising the "Inaba White Rabbit Contest". Jun wonders if there is prize money on offer, until she realizes second place prize is a trip overseas; possibly a chance to meet her ex in person. However, the contest can only be entered in pairs, and Jun has no one to participate with since her partner just broke up with her. Just then, Toro arrives on scene in a shark costume, and Jun sees his childish, gullible appearance as something to take advantage of. Jun tells him her partner has gone far away, and if he helps her in the Inaba White Rabbit Contest, she can go overseas to meet them. Toro, falling for the bait, offers to help her in the contest.

Toro and Jun win the contest, and Jun reveals to Toro she is taking the prize money and continuing her solo journey: she lied to him. Toro is surprised, and Jun brushes off her behavior by telling him she "didn't mean anything by it", warning him not to so easily believe people like her. Toro then asks her if she likes her partner, and they must want to see her too; Jun claims they don't like her and they don't care about her. Toro tells her that even when people are far appart, if they like each other, their feelings won't change. Jun ponders this, and decides to see her partner after all. And, she adds, if they don't get along, she can beat them upside the head in person. Jun thanks Toro for the advice, and the Memory Diary is filled with another memory. Jun says she wants to be more honest with herself, and Toro claims the two are now friends, apparently unphased by her earlier behavior. As Jun leaves, Toro wonders if she could teach him more about love someday.

Jun and I became friends. Meow...

Splitting Watermelons[]

Toro and Kuro arrive at the beach, and are excited for a chance of beach time fun, but Toro is concerned about playing during the middle of his important journey. He tells Kuro this, but Kuro is excited about seeing "bikini babes" and tells Toro he should take any chance he can to relax and play. Plus, Kuro adds, if Toro works too hard with no breaks he could destroy his body; Kuro is simply looking out for him, he claims. Toro sees his way, and as they look for something to do they find a watermelon on the beach, seemingly abandoned. Toro says that the watermelon should be returned to its owner, but Kuro disregards his concern and announces a watermelon splitting contest.

Toro and Kuro's transformations.

After the watermelon is split, Toro and Kuro prepare to eat it until an eerie laugh is heard. Then, with a puff of smoke the Watermelon Genie appears, and offers to grant the two cats three wishes for releasing him from his prison inside the watermelon. Kuro uses the first wish to become "eight heads high", thinking that it will give him a "slender figure", and Toro uses the second wish to become human. Kuro's wish is granted first, but only his torso is lengthened, giving him an unusual appearance. Kuro is upset with the results and wants to be turned back to normal, but the Watermelon Genie grants Toro's wish next. Toro becomes "human", but only his body is given human like proportions: his face is still that of a cat. He too is upset by the results, and both he and Kuro uses the final wish simultaneously to turn back to normal. With a mischievous laugh, the Watermelon Genie thanks Toro for releasing him from his prison and vanishes in a puff of smoke. Toro and Kuro are bewildered by the series of events, but are at least relieved that they were able to get another thank you for the Memory Diary. But, Toro wonders about the body he received from the Watermelon Genie; if that was what he would look like if he became human, he would be worried.

We don't want to look like that. Meow...

Let's Sandlot Baseball[]

Screenshot 2021-03-10-15-42-25-1

A rare sight. Toro and Kuro are playing baseball.

Toro and Kuro are seen practicing baseball in a backyard, with little context. Toro is unable to hit Kuro's pitches, especially his magic invisible ball. Kuro is frustrated and asks Toro why he is suddenly so determined to hit a home run. Toro explains with a flashback sequence: he met a cat at a baseball game who wants to play on the team but is too sick to play, and he is afraid to go to the hospital. He starts to cry, but tells Toro that his eyes are just itchy, and Toro offers to play on the team he is rooting for and score a victory to give the cat the courage to go to the hospital and get his illness treated, despite never playing before, and so he trains with Kuro to become at least somewhat competent enough to play and score a victory.

The baseball fan reveals his illness.

Toro manages to win the baseball game, and the baseball fan is excited. As promised, he tells Toro he will go to the hospital, and thanks him for the courage, filling a new memory for the Memory Diary. Toro asks him what kind of illness he has, and the baseball fan tells him he just has hay fever, to Toro's unamusement; his eyes are too itchy to play the game.

Please go to the hospital. Meow...

Ukulele[]

Screenshot 2021-03-10-22-54-34-1

Mr. Ukulele's dream.

Toro arrives at the beach again, and falls asleep under the warm sun. He is awoken by the sounds of music, and as he approaches the sound he finds a seemingly abandoned ukulele. As he examines closer, the ukulele gets up and starts talking to him, as if it is somehow sentient, and tells Toro he is rude for referring to it as a "guitar". Toro is shocked, and asks Mr. Ukulele what it is doing abandoned, and it explains to him that its owner left it on the beach. Mr. Ukulele simply wants to make people happy with its music, and demands that Toro play it. Toro is confused, but he is forced into a Hawaiian shirt and is made to play the ukulele.

After his performance, Toro suddenly wakes up on the beach at sunset. He looks around for Mr. Ukulele, and asks it if his performance was satisfactory, but Mr. Ukulele does not respond. Toro wonders if it were all a dream, but then the ukulele plays a final note, and Toro's Memory Diary is somehow filled, as if the final note was Mr. Ukulele's way of saying thank you. Toro asks the ukulele if it is lonely and if it wants to come with him, again to no response, so he takes the ukulele with him on his travels.

It's lonely to be alone. Meow...

Bon Dance[]

Screenshot 2021-03-10-23-18-00-1

Ghost Cat after possessing Toro.

Pierre Yamamoto, a melancholic dog, is loitering in front of the train station, looking as if he is lost. He is frustrated by his Papan and Maman treating him like a child, and wants to show them he can live on his own independently, so he goes on a trip by himself. However, he arrives at a train station he is unfamiliar with and is lost. A cat in a kimono walks by, and Pierre asks her for directions, but she does not respond and instead starts crying. As Pierre asks what is wrong, she somehow vanishes, and Pierre is horrified. As scared as he is, however, he does not want to "leave a damsel in distress", and walks away, finding himself in a festival. He finds the ghost cat here once again, and introduces himself as a "damsel", to the ghost cat's amusement. Ghost Cat explains she wants to dance in the Bon Dance one last time, but is unable to because of her ghostly figure: no one could see her if she dances, and she doesn't see a point in that. Pierre, quick to offer help to a "damsel in distress", offers his body for the ghost to possess, but Ghost Cat doesn't feel right possessing the body of a dog; she needs a cat body. Just then, Toro arrives, excited for the Bon Dance, and puts on a white and blue kimono. Pierre sees his chance, and knocks Toro out cold so Ghost Cat can possess him. After some hesitation, Ghost Cat possesses Toro and participates in the Bon Dance using his body.

At the end of the Bon Dance, Ghost Cat leaves Toro, leaving him confused. Pierre greets Toro, as if he is meeting him for the first time, and Toro tells him his name. Suddenly, Toro hears a voice thanking him, and the Memory Diary is filled once more, to his confusement as Pierre gives a knowing smile. The Ghost Cat appears once more, and thanks Pierre for his help as well. She passes on, now fully content, as she and Pierre say goodbye. Toro asks who Pierre was talking to, as he couldn't see the ghost, and Pierre scares him by saying there is a ghost standing behind him. Toro yells, and Pierre laughs; he was just pranking him (or was he...?). Pierre asks Toro if he can be his friend, and he enthusiastically agrees.

My body moved on its own. Meow...

Racer[]

R. Suzuki, a brilliant robot, is watching the lunch hour news on a shop window TV in frustration. A race car driver has recently been in an accident during a race, and he may just retire from racing. Suzuki is extremely upset; he doesn't think the driver should retire after just a single accident, and it would put all his work to waste. The TV, revealing it can talk, asks Suzuki to not get mad at it, as it's not worth it to get mad at the TV. Suzuki calms down somewhat, and Toro approaches after hearing his outburst while walking pass them. The television asks Suzuki about his relationship with the driver, and he reveals that he was the one who built his race car. Toro and the television set are in awe at this statement, as the racer has achieved many awards with the car. But, after the recent failure, Suzuki blames himself for the accident as it was his creation that caused it. Suzuki then notices Toro standing near them, and Toro tells him he should go to the racer and apologize for the accident, to Suzuki's confusion. Toro brings him to the race track, even after Suzuki frustratedly explains to him repeatedly how he doesn't want to see the racer. Racer is shocked upon seeing Suzuki, and tells him he felt he abandoned him. He demands Suzuki to make him a new car, but Suzuki feels he is unworthy to make any more vehicles after the recent accident. Racer tells him it wasn't Suzuki's fault, and it was in fact his error that caused the accident. After they bicker back and forth, Toro interrupts and says he wants to drive Suzuki's car. Racer them challenges him to a race, to prove that Suzuki's car isn't a failure.

Screenshot 2021-03-10-23-50-19-1

Suzuki and Racer Cat make up.

After a successful race, Suzuki and Racer are satisfied that even "an idiot's child" could drive the car and be victorious. Racer asks Suzuki if he will be returning, to which Suzuki replies he will but he cannot do anything more for Racer. Racer tells him it doesn't matter, and he simply wants to remain close friends. Suzuki ponders this, and makes up with his friend. He thanks Toro too, for bringing them back together, and a new memory for the Memory Diary is obtained. They say farewell, and Suzuki and Racer are heard making plans for the next race

Highly sophisticated robot. Meow...

My name is Honey.

Toro arrives at an elementary school next, and thinks to himself how he would like to go to school once he becomes human. As he notes how quiet the school grounds are, a cat boy runs past him, shouting "Faaow!". Toro starts running with him, shouting alongside him. The boy stops running, and introduces himself as Honey. He explains he is training for a sports festival the school will be holding, to which Toro misunderstands as a competition involving "running into new students at the corner while eating bread", to Honeys unamusment. Honey tells Toro that the festival id supposed to be held in a month, but the school is set to be closed soon. Honey is also the only student participating in the sports festival, and it will probably be canceled. He wants to have one more chance to have fun with all his friends before the school shuts down, and ridicules himself for practicing anyway. Toro then tells him he will participate too, and will bring all his friends so they can hold the festival, to Honey's delight.

After the festival, Honey thanks Toro for giving him his best memory of his school before it closes, and Toro obtains a new memory for the Memory Diary. Honey envies how nice Toro's friends are, and Toro reassures him that he is also one of his friends now. Honey smiles, and asks Toro if he could come back to the school once he becomes human, but catches himself before he finishes, as the school would be closed by then. Toro tells him they will always be friends regardless of what happens to the school, and they must leave it with a smile. The school bells ring one last time, and Toro and Honey say goodbye to the school, and then to each other. As Toro leaves, he thinks about how temporary the time he has spent with the new friends he had made over his journey has been; a journey of meeting people and then saying goodbye.

In the sports festival. Meow...

Ball Toss[]

Screenshot 2021-03-12-00-42-48-1

Secret weapon is deployed.

Toro arrives at another school, this one larger and more sophisticated than the previous. He wanders onto the school grounds, so excited to see new things that he hasn't asked for permission before entering. Suddenly, he is approached by Boss Cat, and she hastily assumes that Toro is here to steal sports equipment from the school; she dramatically refers to him as "here to steal the ball toss team's tradition". Toro tries to explain himself, but Boss Cat is determined to stop him and starts to beat Toro up. Toro, now in a daze, tries to explain himself again, and this time, Boss Cat listens, and apologizes for hurting him. Suddenly, a voice is heard behind them, as a cat announces "the memorial of the ball toss". A Stray Cat appears, accompanied by Ricky and Suzuki, and approaches Toro and Boss Cat. Toro mistakes the Stray Cat for Kuro, as they look very similar, but he tells him he isn't Kuro and is here to challenge him and Boss Cat in a game of ball toss. The Stray Cat intimidates Boss Cat by saying he has already won with numbers, his team of three versus her team of one. Boss Cat then announces her helper; the hope of the ball toss team, Toro (who is confused by this statement). But before he can retaliate, the ball toss game has already begun.

Toro and Boss Cat win the competition, and as the Stray Cat laments their defeat Ricky and Suzuki congratulate the victors. Ricky and Suzuki then approach the Stray Cat, and ask for their end of the "deal": if they played on his team, he would take them to see the Crescent Scarred Cat. Ricky has heard of the Crescent Scarred Cat's power and wants to challenge them, and Suzuki wants to research the cat's rumored magical power. The Stray Cat plays dumb, and implies he lied to them as he runs away, with Ricky and Suzuki in pursuit. Boss Cat thanks Toro for his help, filling out his Memory Diary, and asks if he would like to join the ball toss club for real. Toro can't because he is busy with his important journey, but asks Boss Cat if it is lonely being the only member of the ball toss team, and she replies she is determined to expand the team; the ball toss will never be irrelevant. Toro leaves, rejuvenated by Boss Cat's enthusiasm. He also wonders about the Stray Cat who looked just like Kuro.

Probationary ball toss team member. Meow...

Punk[]

Let's tear up this rotting society up!

Toro wanders into a bar, and upon seeing a somewhat scary looking punk rocker, he tries to stealthily leave, but his squeaky footsteps give him away and the punk cat notices him. Punk Cat yells at him, which causes Toro to run away. He cautiously approaches the Punk Cat once more after he calls for him to return, and sees that the Punk Cat is not so scary at all. But, then the Punk Cat breaks into song, with a lyric that says he will "throw that white cat into hell", and Toro runs away again. Punk Cat laughs and tells Toro he was joking, with another song telling him he should stop being nervous. Toro approaches once more, and Punk Cat asks him if there were anyone looking like him around. Toro, confused, asks what he is: he calls him a chicken due to his mohawk, to which Punk Cat retaliates with a slap. Punk Cat then explains he has a show coming up soon and his bandmates have not showed up. He would have to cancel todays show if they fail to arrive, and Toro offers to perform with him in their stead. Punk Cat laughs and calls Toro a wimp, but then Toro changes into a rock and roll persona with a wave of his bag, and sings a song full of punk attitude. Punk Cat likes Toro's new look, and he brings him onto the show.

The show was a hit, and Punk Cat thanks Toro for his help: the Memory Diary is filled. Punk Cat asks Toro his reason for his journey, and upon hearing it he sings a new song for his humanizing journey. Before they leave, Toro says goodbye but Punk Cat tells him they'll meet again, so Toro instead says "see you later!". As Toro leaves, he thinks about how he cannot judge people by their looks alone.

Toro is sitting on a set of stairs, taking a break and looking at the full moon in the night sky. As he gazes at the moon, he asks it about love. Suddenly, he spots a shooting star and wishes to become human, but can't stop meowing while reciting his wish. As he chastises himself for messing the wish up, he hears an explosion as the shooting star disappears over the horizon. Toro is shook, and then hears a voice from below; he approaches to investigate. He finds Kuro in a field, passed out next to a smoking crater. As he rushes over to see if Kuro is hurt, the smoke clears and a cat with bunny ears appears, looking as if she hurt her head. As Kuro gets up, saying he also has hurt his head, the bunny eared cat bashfully apologizes to him, claiming she was "careless". Both of them seem unhurt, and Bunny Cat looks around, in awe at the beauty of their surroundings. She claims her hometown is desolate and "all rock", and Kuro asks her if she is on a journey like they are. Bunny Cat then asks if they know if she can get any mochi nearby, as obtaining mochi is the cause of her journey. Kuro explains that all the stores are closed at night, so she will have to wait until morning to obtain any mochi, to her horror: she unfortunately has to be back home before morning. So, Toro offers to make mochi himself for her.

Bunny Cat on arrival.

Toro and Kuro finish pounding the mochi, and Bunny Cat is delighted to be able to taste fresh mochi for the first time. She thanks the two cats, and the Memory Diary is filled again. She explains thar mochi is the live energy of all rabbits from her hometown, to Kuro's confusion. She tells the cats she has to go home soon, while it is a full moon, to their dismay. They promise to meet again as she leaves, and as Toro and Kuro are sitting on the stair steps again, Kuro spots a shooting star returning to the moon.

There was a shooting star. Meow...

Putter Golf[]

Toro forgets himself.

Toro wanders onto a golf course (without permission, as he's one to do). He hears a voice call out, and as Toro looks to the sky he is hit on the head with a golf ball, knocking him out unconscious. The golfer who hit the ball runs over in distress, and is relived to see Toro get up, unaware of where he is. The golfer introduces himself as Wakaba, and he's aiming to be a pro golfer. Toro is still confused, and asks where he is. Wakaba tells him he's on a golf course, and it's not a place he should be wandering about in. Toro is confused as to why he's even on a golf course, and after asking for his name Wakaba finds out that, other than his name, Toro has lost his memory. Wakaba starts to panic, but then an announcer speaks over the radio and calls for all participants of the putter golf tourney. Wakaba needs to go, but doesn't want to leave Toro alone in his current state, so he convinces him he is actually his caddie and brings Toro with him to the putter golf tourney.

Screenshot 2021-03-12-02-42-36-1

Wakaba tries not to cry.

Wakaba and Toro win the putter golf tourney, and Wakaba asks Toro if he wants to continue being his caddie, bringing the prospect of attending world tourneys. He thanks Toro too, which results in the Memory Diary being filled, confusing Toro as he has forgotten what the Memory Diary is. Toro feels it is something important, and tries hard to remember, but his head still hurts. Wakaba is worried and tells him he shouldn't try to remember since it looked like the memory is causing him pain. Toro still tries hard to remember, and as he questions his status as a caddie, another golf ball falls from the sky and hits him on the head. Toro is knocked unconscious again, and as the golfer who hit the ball approaches, it is revealed he is Kuro. Toro wakes up, his old memory returned, although he has forgotten everything that had happened during his amnesia: Wakaba is no longer familiar to him. Wakaba is upset he has lost his caddie, and as Toro asks if they've met before he solemnly says they haven't. As Toro and Kuro leave, Wakaba asks Toro if he knows what it takes to be a good caddie. Toro, although confused what a caddie is, determines that, like how a human must understand how other people feel, a caddie must understand how a golfer feels. Wakaba understands, and they both say goodbye and good luck achieving each others dreams, but Wakaba is seen running away upset after their farewell. As Toro leaves with Kuro, he is confused as how he knew the name and dreams of Wakaba, and starts to cry, feeling as though he has forgotten something very important. He wonders if, when he becomes human, he will also forget his past memories of being a cat.

I don't know why my forehead hurts. Meow...

Bowling[]

Toro's strange costume.

Kuro and Toro arrive at a bowling alley, just outside town. Kuro is excited to go bowling, and even offers to foot Toro's entry fee if he bowls with him. They rush up to the owner of the alley, but learn that the bowling alley has just been closed due to lack of customers. However, he decides to let them bowl for free, to have the alley go out with a fun bang. Toro and Kuro are excited, and Toro puts on an unusual bowling pin costume, which confuses the bowling alley owner. Toro, apparently unfamiliar with bowling terms, believes he is dressed as "the bowling", but Kuro corrects him and tells him he is dressed as one of the pins that gets knocked down, to his embarrassment. The alley owner tells him there is no one watching, so he shouldn't feel embarrassed, but Toro feels otherwise as he looks around in concern. Kuro, seeing Toro's concern, wonders if there are ghosts in the bowling alley, to the owners offense, and the two go in to play.

Screenshot 2021-03-12-02-59-28-1

The bowling alley is on air.

Kuro shows himself to be an expert at bowling, and Toro cannot beat him but still has fun anyway. As they leave, the bowling alley owner thanks them for a good last game, and Toro's Memory Diary is filled with another thank you. Toro and Kuro are sad that the bowling alley is closing, but the owner has made peace with it and isn't too upset anymore. However, they once again feel like they are being watched. And, as they notice a TV camera, their suspicions are confirmed: Toro's strange bowling pin costume has been recorded and put on air on the lunch hour news, which has drawn a crowd to the alley to see the costume, thus filling it with life and preventing it from being closed. As happy as Toro is, however, he is embarrassed about being live on television in his silly costume.

Oops, it's a mistake. How embarrassing. Meow...

Santa Claus[]

Off to deliver presents!

It is Christmas Eve, and Toro is sleeping on a bench dreaming about the Christmas parties he will have when he becomes human. Toro is then woken up by a voice, referring to him as "Santa". As Toro wakes up, he sees Reindeer Cat, who tells him he needs to get ready, as Christmas Eve is almost over. Toro is confused, and Reindeer Cat tells him he is Santa Claus, and he needs to deliver the presents to all the children before Christmas morning, to his further confusion. Toro is put into a Santa costume, and Reindeer Cat takes him to the sky. Toro is now accepting of his sudden role, and prepares to deliver presents to all the good children of the world.

After their work is done, Toro and Reindeer Cat return to the bench, tired after a hard nights work. As Reindeer Cat prepares for her year long vacation, Toro asks her for a thank you to fill his Memory Diary. Reindeer Cat slaps him, and is furious he woukd want a "thank you" as Santa: kindness doesn't expect gratitude in return. She disqualifies Toro as Santa, but rescinds her statement once Toro shows understanding. She promises to meet him again next year, and she flies away. Toro wakes up from sleeping on the bench the following Christmas morning, still tired from the previous night's work. Kuro meets up with him, and as Toro tells him how he was Santa last night, he laughs in disbelief. Toro wonders if it were all a dream, but then, the Memory Diary suddenly is filled, to Toros confusion, as Reindeer Cat refused to thank him. Maybe, it were the thankful voices of all the children who received his presents that morning...?

Have the presents arrived? Meow...

Angel[]

Toro, watch out!

Toro and Kuro are traversing a busy street. As they are about to cross the srreet, Toro reminds Kuro to look both way before crossing. As Toro is absent mindedly trying to remember which direction is right while crossing the street, he is seemingly hit by a car and fades to black. When Toro comes to, he is floating in the sky, and has wings and a halo. He hears a voice call his name, warning him not to come closer. As he flies around the strange new area, he meets Angel Cat, who, upon hearing his name, tells him he's "not on todays schedule". Toro is confused, and worried he is lost, but then hears the voice again, begging him to come back. Toro finds the voice nostalgic, and flies toward its location.

Screenshot 2021-03-12-04-45-31-1

Toro can't be with them any longer...

As Toro reaches the source of the voice, he sees two cats through the clouds. They seem to be familiar with him, and are satisfied at how much he's grown. Toro is confused, and asks who they are, but they ignore the question and ask him if he is lonely, and if he is doing fine all by himself. Toro tells them he isn't alone: he's chasing his dream and making many new friends. The two figures are glad, and pet Toro. They thank him for coming to see them, but the taller figure tells him he needs to return home. The smaller figure is upset and wants to talk with Toro more, and Toro is upset he has to leave without them. The figures apologize, and say goodbye, to Toro's horror. He tries to chase after them, but they start to fade away, just as Toro starts to feel as though the figures are familiar. Toro starts to cry, and Angel Cat appears, telling him he cannot go any further. Toro tells her to get out of his way, but Angel Cat slaps him and sends him back to reality.

As Toro comes to, he is face to face with a van heading straight towards him, but just as it was about to hit him, Kuro jumps out to push him out of the way. As they are safely on the other side of the crosswalk, Kuro scolds Toro for spacing out while crossing. But Toro, thinking about his previous experience, says he felt so happy, to Kuro's confusion. As they continue down the sidewalk, Kuro notices that Toro has a new memory in the Memory Diary, seemingly from nowhere, and asks where it came from. Toro has forgotten, but he notices a fragrance coming from the diary that makes him happy.

The smell reminds me of mom and dad. Meow...

Tennis[]

Toro and Kuro pass through a tennis court, but something catches Kuro's eye from within. A tennis player is on the court, worried about the upcoming tournament, and nearly collapses on the ground from anxiety. Kuro rushes over to see if she is okay, and takes her somewhere safer to rest. When the tennis player is more stable, she introduces herself as Mademoiselle Grape. Kuro is familiar with her, and identifies her as the player who is playing in the national tournament. Ms. Grape is surprised Kuro is familiar with her, and Kuro explains he was worried about her after noticing her training seemed poor. Ms. Grape is upset that her poor play is so noticeable, and reveals she has been so anxious about the pressure of the upcoming tournament that she cannot focus on playing well. Kuro reassures her that its normal to feel like that, but Ms. Grape reiterates she needs to learn how to not be so stressed out about the tournament so she can play well. Kuro has a solution, his secret weapon: Toro. He tells Ms. Grape to play a match with Toro, to the latters unamusement. Ms. Grape is curious how it will help her, and after a jest from Kuro questioning her confidence in beating Toro, she plays a match with him, to Toros continued confusion.

Screenshot 2021-03-12-05-17-31-1

Ms. Grape regains her confidence!

Ms. Grape beats Toro in the match, and brags about her victory, seemingly regaining her confidence. Toro notes how happy she was playing against him, and tells her she would be evem more happy playint tennis in the big tournament. Ms. Grape ponders this, then asks Kuro if this was his intention: to make her remember how much she loved tennis. He tells her he didn't think that far ahead, but after Ms. Grape decides if she sees the pressure as just a part of the tennis experience she will learn to love it too, Kuro adopts this as his original intentions. Ms. Grape thanks her coach and her opponent for the experience, and Toro gains a new memory in the Diary. Ms. Grape then asks Kuro if he would like to be her coach full time, enticing him with all the fame and fortune he will get. Kuro heavily considers this, but tells her he is busy on an important trip with Toro, to her dismay. She asks the two cats if they will at least watch her play in the tournament, to which they agree to.

Ms. Grape's message to Kuro.

Later, Kuro is watching the lunch hour news on a shop window TV, and is ecstatic to see Ms. Grape announced the winner. Toro asks him if he regrets turning down her offer of being her coach, and Kuro replies he doesn't want to be tied down with responsibility: he's a free cat. Then, the news broadcast shows a message from Ms. Grape, asking Kuro if he'd like to spend more time with her and enjoy tennis again. Kuro, somewhat embarrassed, considers this offer, and he and Toro continue on their journey. But, Toro, after almost potentially losing Kuro, wonders when he and Kuro will have to part ways, and becomes worried.

Kuro was unusually popular. Meow...

King of Cards[]

Screenshot 2021-03-16-06-41-21-1

Toro looks just like a king!

Toro and Kuro arrive to a large manor, with Toro wearing an outfit fit for a king, complete with a golden crown. Toro asks Kuro where he obtained the royal clothing, and he explains he obtained them when he won against a very wealthy individual in gambling. Toro, disappointed that Kuro would again be gambling, tells him the clothes should be returned, and Kuro explains it was a big win and the losing player knew what was at stake. Toro is still upset, but after Kuro calls him "King Toro", Toro, flattered, drops the discussion. They continue to the manor, and are greeted by the owner of the manor. She mistakes Toro for the king, and tells the two she and all the other elite that have been invited to the manor have been waiting for the king to arrive to their party. Toro tries to correct her, but Kuro senses an opportunity and slaps Toro quiet. Kuro keeps the charade up and introduces himself as King Toro's servant. The owner of the manor then explains to the two that a special card game has been prepared, after hearing of the King's love for gambling. Kuro is thrilled at the prospect of big winnings, but Toro is upset at how badly they lied to the owner if the manor. Kuro tells Toro he is overreacting, and the two head to the manor to play the card game.

Screenshot 2021-03-16-07-09-58-1

Kuro trusts Toro.

Toro and Kuro have lost miserably at the card game, although Kuro is still high spirited somehow. The owner of the manor thanks the two for providing entertainment to the royalty present, filling out Toro's Memory Diary. Then, to the two's unforseen consequence, the manor owner asks them to pay their losses. Kuro is surprised even a king must pay in gambling, and Toro estimates the cost cannot be that high, but the manor owner surprises them both when she reveals their debt is ten million Myalie, the currency of the kingdom. They explain they cannot afford the loss, and confess to their facade, but the owner of the manor says that, regardless of who they claimed to be, they still lost and must pay. The owner of the manor contines and explains since they cannot pay with money, they must give something of importance away. Toro offers the Memory Diary, and with it his chance of becoming human, but Kuro retaliates and tells him he cannot give up his dream so easily, after all they been through. Toro then offers to sell the royal clothes and use the money to pay the debt, but the manor owner, with a sinister, uncaring smile, tells him she will hold Kuro hostage until he can provide the money directly, and vaguely threatens Kuro's well-being if the debt isn't paid by the end of the day. The two cats panic, and Toro rushes off on foot to sell the royal threads. After Toro leaves, the owner of the manor wonders aloud if Toro would return, as he could just not come back and he wouldn't have anything to pay. Kuro, however, trusted Toro, and believed he wouldn't leave him for his own selfish gain.

Toro's long errand

Toro ran all the way on foot, all throughout the river, town, and city, to sell the king's clothes and obtain the money to save Kuro. He never stopped running, even while running through the city at night, since he knew if he didn't arrive in time, Kuro could be hurt, or worse. As his body began to give out, and his legs could barely move, he still didn't give up. After he arrived at the place to sell the clothes, he had to make the return journey to the manor, doubling the lenght of the already arduous marathon. When night fell and he couldn't see, he felt he had to move faster since he could no longer tell the time, and the day could be over any minute. Finally, as he arrived upon the manor, he realized he was too late, and cried out for Kuro to be returned.

Screenshot 2021-03-16-07-21-17-1

Reunited

Then, Kuro ran towards Toro, and they had a tearful embrace. The owner of the manor approached the two, and applauded Toro for returning: she didn't think he was going to come back at all. Kuro yells at her, claiming full responsibility for what happened, and Toro is innocent. Toro rebukes the statement, claiming responsibility as well, and the owner of the manor laughs coldly and tells the two that Toro arrived in time after all. She tells them to clean up the after party mess, and reveals she reset her watch so the two can be reunited even after Toro was too late. The two cried all throughout the night, thanking the manor owner relentlessly for letting them remain together.

Parlor Tricks[]

Toro and Kuro pass by a home appliance store, during the short period between Christmas and New Year. Toro takes note of a television set in the store window, and flicks it on to see the news. Kuro, almost leaving him behind, asks him about his current detour, and Toro explains he felt the TV was lonely and wanted company. Kuro, having no patience, threatens Toro with leaving him at the corner store, and Toro comes with him, leaving the TV alone again. The next morning, Toro arrives again to see the TV, but it tells him it is too high class for window glaring, and revesls it's price tag of 980,000 yen, to Toro's shock. Toro walks away at the television set's snooty behavior, but returns the next morning to find out the TV has received an extreme price drop and is now 98,000 yen. The television, Toro naming it Dear Television, tries to explain that the price drop wasn't because it wasn't selling well, or anything, but Toro still is disheartened because he still cannot afford it, and walks away commenting how he wants to save his allowance for the TV as Dear Television sobs at it's continued loneliness.

That night, on New Year's Eve, Dear Television turns on to greet anyone passing by, but no one shows up except Toro, who notices the price has once again dropped to 9,800 yen. Dear Television, seeming as if it didn't want to see Toro progressively take note of it's further decreasing price, greets him rudely and tells him that it's just the year-end sale and the price will be back up next year. But, Toro is still unable to purchase the television, even at it's now irregularly low price, and as he is about to leave, Dear Television calls out to him and asks him to watch it, just a little. But, it bashfully explains, he doesn't have to, of course, if he doesn't want to, and Toro sits down to watch the TV through the night.

Happy New Year!

The next morning, it is New Years day and Toro arrives to see Dear Television once more in traditional outfit. Dear Television advertises whats on show for the festivities, including parlor tricks, upon mention of which Toro becomes upset as he doesn't know any. A human should know a few parlor tricks, Toro believes, and he doesn't want to become a human not knowing any. Dear Television offers to help teach Toro one, as, being a TV, it knows all sorts of information, and Toro enthusiastically accepts the offer.

The final words between the Professor and his son.

Dear Television awakes in a desolate laboratory, and is approached by the Professor. He explains that their secret research institute on artificial intelligence has been discovered, and Dear Television, with it's cat like intelligence, is being sought after. The Professor further explains that the intruders are looking to take advantage of Dear Television's intelligence for malevolent intents, and expresses his dream of the television's intelligence to be used for making people smile. The Professor tells Dear Television that it is going to be put in a utility store, disguised as a retro television set, so it cannot be taken and misused. Dear Television, inherently shy, asks what it should do when approached, and the Professor offers a strategy: to appear quiet and indifferent at first when approached. Suddenly, an alarm goes off, and the Professor, realizing that they have been ambushee by intruders, tells Dear Television he must approach them alone, to Dear Television's distress. The Professor gives a final farewell to Dear Television, and hopes it can live happily ever after as he leaves to confront the intruders.

Dear Television's purpose.

Suddenly, Dear Television is awoken from it's nightmare by Toro, now finished with the parlor trick. Toro notes how it appeared to have woken from a nightmare, and is surprised that the TV can dream. Dear Television explains it was made with love, and Toro thanks it for teaching him the parlor trick. Dear Television, flustered, tells Toro that it is who should be giving thanks, and whispers a thank-you under it's breath, giving Toro a new memory for his Diary. Dear Television reminiscences on the Professor's dream, of making people smile, regardless of price or capabilities, now understanding his wish: after Toro asks what it is talking about, Dear Television quickly dismisses his thought.

980 yen! 980 yen! Breakout price! Breakout Price!

Then, Kuro approaches the two and asks Toro if he is looking into buying a television. After seeing Toro consider, Kuro explains that they can't be lugging a TV with them on their journey, and Toro promises to buy Dear Television once he becomes human. However, upon another look at the price of 9,800 yen, they consider forgetting it all together, but Dear Television quickly announces a final, New Year's deal: just 980 yen. Kuro is amused by this price and mocks the television for it, and in retaliation is both yelled at and attacked by a water basin summoned from the sky.

I met Dear Television. Meow...

Fan-tan[]

The elderly cat accepts his fate.

Toro, excited about the New Year, is walking through a shopping arcade with Kuro when a sign advertising a New Year's Fan-tan contest catches his eye. Kuro becomes interested too once he notices prizes are on offer, and the two are approached by an elderly cat. He tells the two cats that the contest is being held at a near by apartment, but there are not many participants this year. The elderly cat reminiscences of when the annual Fan-tan contest used to be popular, but now is seeming to be canceled again due to lack of participants. He, however, is accepting of this, as it's just a sign of the times. As he leaves, Toro wonders if he can help him.

Toro approaches Jun and asks her about her overseas trip to see her special someone, and she replies it went well and she wanted to see Toro again to thank him. She notes that Toro hasn't become human yet, and Toro explains that the Memory Diary is almost full, before asking her for a favor.

Toro meets Pierre at the train station, and comments how impressive his knowledge of language is when Pierre greets him with "bonjour". Pierre explains he is trying to see if "she" is still wandering the station, and, after noticing Toro's downcast appearance, asks if he can help him.

Toro finds Ricky at the river, training after last years failure. Upon seeing Toro, Ricky demands a rematch, to Toro's distress, and asks for his name since he never received it the last time they met. After hearing his response, he once again challenges Toro, and demands a contest between them. After Toro expresses interest, he asks if the contest can be anything, and Ricky agrees to Toro choosing the contest.

At the race track, Toro finds Suzuki and asks him if he is good at the game Fan-tan. Suzuki replies that since he is a super functional robot, he is excellent at the game, despite never playing it. Toro asks him to come with him and helo him with the contest.

Toro gathers all his friends

As the elderly cat is in front of his shabby apartment, rambling about how old they both are, suddenly, Toro, complete in outfit, arrives at the elderly cat's apartment with all his friends. He has brought them all together to take part in the Fan-tan contest, to the elderly cat's delight.

After the contest, the Elderly Cat is over joyed that there could still be so much fun had in his old apartment. He thanks Toro for bringing all his friends to the contest and making it fun for everyone, which once again fills the Memory Diary. The Elderly Cat asks Toro for more one favor: if he would live in the old apartment. The elderly cat claims he is getting too old to care for the apartment, and wants Toro to live in it and prevent it from deteriorating further, even offering him free rent. Toro is ecstatic at the offer, and accepts it, although he explains he cannot live in it immediately since he must finish his journey first. Toro's journey is reaching it's end: he takes note at how close the Memory Diary is to completion, and wonders if it will really grant his wish

Toro's new home

Toro takes a good look at his new home, and steps inside, feeling excited to be living inside a house again after so long. In the midst of Toro's excitement, he suddenly realizes Kuro has been gone for a while, since before the New Year's party. He thinks about calling Kuro and telling him about the new apartment, but then the door rings and he hears a call for a delivery for him. He rushes over to answer the door, and sees Dear Television: someone has purchased it for him. Dear Television gives his sales pitch and declares he wilk work hard for Toro, who is confused since he didn't purchase it. Dear Television reveals it was Kuro who purchased it for Toro, and then tells him Kuro has left town. Toro is upset, and wonders if Kuro has abandoned him, until Dear Television presents a prerecorded message from Kuro.

Screenshot 2021-03-19-06-55-04-1

Kuro's farewell, the final thank you

In the message, Kuro greets Toro, proud on what they accomplished together, and explains that he cannot be in town while Toro receives his wish, since he worked so hard on it and the power of the Memory Diary might go to Kuro instead. So, Kuro has gone far away, so Toro can use the wish himself and make his dream come true. Kuro thanks Toro for such an exciting adventure, and at the end of the recording, adds a cheeky statement and says he will come see Toro again and take care of him if he has become a "sexy and seductive" human. Kuro then says goodbye, uncertain if they will ever meet again. Kuro's thank you from the recording fills the Memory Diary with it's final memory, the memory of Kuro and Toro's journey together. However, Toro is distraught at Kuro's disappearance, and starts to cry. He announces he will search for Kuro, and runs out of the apartment in tears, ignoring the now complete Memory Diary. He searches in the last place they were, but cannot find him there and is uncertain on where to continue the search, and breaks down in front of the apartment.

My "Memory Diary" is full. Meow...

But without Kuro, I can't be happy. Meow...

The End of the Trip[]

It has been a month since Kuro's disappearance, and Toro is unable to find him. Toro has disregarded all other parts of his life and has directed all focus on finding Kuro. Toro began to lose spirit in the search, and has become completely disconsolate. As Toro is crying in front of his apartment, his landlord, the elderly cat, approaches him after hearing about Kuro's disappearance, and offers to help search for him, contacting people he knows im the business to put up signs to help the search. Then, Jun Mihara comes to see Toro, and is upset that Toro never told her, nor any of their friends, about Kuro. Toro says he didn't want to bother them, and Jun emphasizes that they are friends: she is always there for him. She tells Toro to stay at home, and she and the rest will search for Kuro.

It's for someone special

One by one, everyone Toro has met in his journey hears about Kuro's disappearance, and arrives at Toro's house to comfort him. Garcon Cat tells Toro she has spread the word about Kuro among her connections in the service industry, and they have heard that a black cat has arrived at a maid cafe one month prior. She tells Toro to not become discouraged, and hardships must be endured if it's for loved ones, just as Toro taught her.

The festival ogre stand owner finds Toro and tells him he has seen General Kuro drunk in a festival just two weeks ago, and offers his encouragement in the search: Toro has to bring back the ogre spirit he had in the festival.

Sumo Cat and Ricky come to see Toro, revealing they have become training buddies, and offer to use their connections in the competitive fighting world to help find Kuro. Toro wonders if they will ever find Kuro, and Sumo Cat orders him he must stick out to the end, as that is what he has learned from him.

Detective Cat arrives with a report that a suspicious black cat has been seen flirting with a female police officer only one week prior. He offers to arrest him, as a joke, and tells Toro he and the resr of the police will be searching for Kuro, as is their specialty.

Pierre Yamamoto meets Toro next, and is upset at Kuro's disappearance. He deduces that Kuro hasn't left the country, and will search the airports to make sure. Then, Toro and Pierre hear a voice, offering to lend her help to Toro and ask her ghostly friends to help in the search. Pierre turns around and is surprised that Ghost Cat is still wandering the mortal realm, and chases after her as she flys away.

Boss Cat arrives to give Toro a pep talk, and she reveals she will ask all her friends in the ball toss community across the country to keep an eye out for Kuro. After Toro asks why she would help him, as he is not a member of the ball toss club, she beats him up and tells him they are friends for life. Next, the Baseball Fan arrives, bat in hand, and reveals he has cleared up his hay fever and is playing again. He lends his courage to Toro, as Toro has done for him, and offers his hand to help in the search.

For a loved one

R. Suzuki and Racer have raced over to see Toro, and revealed they have asked around their community and found a black cat on the freeway just three days ago. Suzuki, perhaps too enthusiastically, offers to use GPS satellites to find Kuro, to Racer's retaliation. Toro thanks them, but says that they shouldn't worry too much, and if Kuro cannot be found, he will accept it. Suzuki orders Toro to face his feelings head on, and to accept that he likes Kuro and mustn't give him up.

Ms. Grape comes to look for Kuro as well, and is distraught "her Kuro" had gone missing. She scolds Toro for not telling her sooner, and tells him she has enlisted the extended Grape family to search for him. She then runs off, fantasizing about being the one to recover Kuro for herself.

After so many people have come to see Toro and offer their help, Toro returns into his apartment. After Toro expresses doubt, Dear Television reiterates how everyone has come to help him, and thar it has received messages from those who could not come to see Toro, offering their help.

With a smile

Honey's message is the first to be played, and he thanks Toro for helping him graduate with a smile. He tells Toro they promised to meet again all smiles, and that Kuro must be found so they can fulfill the promise, and the next message from Punk Cat features a song he has made to help aid in the search for Kuro. Next, A message from the owner of the bowling alley claimed he has seen a black cat in the game center just a couple days ago, and assumes it was Kuro because of his love of the game. Even the Watermelon Genie has recorded a message, berating Toro for wanting a fourth wish. He tells him that he must make his own wishes come true, and create his own fate.

For your dreams

Wakaba sends a recording, introducing himself as "a golfer Toro may have not met". He says he will help in the search for Toro, and, maybe all three of them could meet up and become friends once Kuro is found. The owner of the manor, jokingly referring to Toro as "king", reveals she has had a change of heart in her mesage, and offers to clear any debts Kuro may have built up, in exchange for "his body". Oh dear, oh dear!

Bunny Cat has sent a transmission all the way from the moon, and confirms that Kuro has not left for outer space and is still on Earth. Angel Cat's message, all the way from heaven, reveals that Kuro has not died yet, and if he did, Angel Cat wouldn't let him come to heaven so soon. Reindeer Cat, awake during her year long slumber, offers to search from the sky during night, and the Prince has mobilized all his country's men to search for Kuro. He wonders if Kuro has been bothered by the Crescent Scarred Cat, and curses them for messing with Kuro, upon which he is once again turned into a snail by the Crescent Scarred Cat, apparently listening outside his palace.

After Dear Television has played all the messages, it tells Toro that everyone is working so hard to help him find Kuro because Toro showed them how hard he worked to become human and help them. Upon hearing his dream, and the previous mention of the Crescent Scarred Cat, Toro suddenly remembers the Memory Diary and how it was ready to grant a wish.

Toro makes his wish

He runs outside excitedly, and realizes he could use the wish to see Kuro again. But, if he does, then he will have to give up his dream of becoming human. Toro contemplates for hours, determining which one was more important to him: his dream, or Kuro. Then, as night falls, he has come to a decision, and declares his wish to the Memory Diary.

Kuro comes home

The next morning, as Toro is waiting outside his apartment, Kuro has returned. Toro is delighted, although it also seems as if he were expecting Kuro. Kuro is surprised Toro is still a cat, but Toro is too happy to see Kuro and asks him where he had gone. Kuro reveals he has had something of an ordeal in his time away: he got drunk at the festival, fell asleep in the game center, and them someone mistook him for a toy and put him in a shipping truck. Toro laughs, no longer distressed, and notices that Kuro is now wearing a red bowtie. Kuro reveals he had lost all his belongings, and the bowtie was the only thing he had left. Toro tells him that he still has many things, like all his friends and memories. Kuro laughs, and again asks Toro what had happened with his wish. Toro says that he had it granted, and has put off becoming human for another time: he had something more important to wish for. Kuro is curious, but Toro says his wish was a secret and he will never tell Kuro, to his annoyance. Kuro then asks, now that their journey is over, what will Toro do with his life next. Toro reveals he will try to educate himself, and learn more and more to become human, and invites Kuro on his new journey. Kuro, nowhere else to go but with Toro, agrees to learn more with him, and Toro thanks him, to the Memory Diary's silence. Toro is somewhat upset at the Diary's silence, but Kuro declares that they must collect all their new memories and thank yous in their hearts, and make their own dreams come true.

As Toro takes Kuro into their apartment, he reflects on whether the Memory Diary actually worked, but determines it didn't matter. He made so many friends on his journey, and the fact he can remain with them is more important than achieving his personal dream.

The beginning of Toro Station

Kuro suggests to Toro, once they are in their room, that they should start a news show together: this way, they can learn more about the human world and advance their learning journey. Toro agrees, and they go on air to start the first broadcast of Toro Station.

I got energy from everyone I met on my trip. Meow...

Toro doesn't need this "Memory Diary" anymore.
